Another semester down the drain.
Four more semesters, and I'm headed straight for life.
Weird.

It's been a long, strange year. I've been a brother (and a pretty poor one quite often), a bother (very freuquently), and a boyfriend (sorta. but surely.). I've been an accontability partner, a vomit drinker, and a hurricane cleaner-upper. I've been a student, a mentor, and a biker (maybe only a couple times. but that's enough.). I've been a GNC-from-Rogers-walker, a plasma-donater, and a Heifer.org donor. I've been a Christian, a son, and a roommate. I've been a nerf dart fighter, a Psyclops warrior, and an attendee at a coming-into-manhood-mistaken-for-a-birthday party. I've been a desk breaker, a heart breaker, and a soul taker. I've been a hardcore kid, an Ultimate kid, and a stinky kid. I'm a pirate and a playground-tromper. I've experienced lots of amazing, wonderful things. And I'm glad. There's only One Life to Live. And I hate soap operas. And like soap.
I'm about to be a counselor, a lifeguard, a friend, and a role model.

And I hope I'm a disciple.

I always feel spread so thin. I always want to help. Help everyone. I hear about the children enslaved to fight for the LRA in Uganda. I hear about South American peoples starving to death. I hear about worthwhile causes everyday. But what can I do? Do I give to http://www.invisiblechildren.com , and help the kids who are being forced to rape and murder their fellow Ugandans? Do I give to http://www.heifer.org , and help out families who are starving to death by allowing them some stability and a source of income? Do I give to the United Way, or to cancer research, or to homeless shelters, or to people I meet who are down on their luck? Is my time better spent leading a cell group? Do I keep mentoring? Is a week long mission enough? Is 10% of my allowance and my blood money enough? Is 20%? Is 100%? If I go to Peru or Bolivia on a long term mission, will I be focusing my time too much in one area and ignoring whole other continents? I just don’t ever know what to do with all that I have.

My family tree is cooler than yours.

I've got a serial killer, a great gram in the RAF who got her papers signed by Mrs. Roosevelt, a great uncle who was involved in the first marijuana sting in Iowa, and another great uncle that disappeared in the late 80's due to some large debts to some shady characters (he stole a van just before he disappeared, and the van was found, with his dead buddy in it. He hasn't been seen since. Either in hiding or sleeping with the fishes.). And that's just the stories that I've heard. Who knows what else is going on.

edit: Pray for my momma and her side of the family. My great-grandmother just passed away, and it's gonna be hard on all of them. I wish I had spent more time getting to know her. From what mom tells me, she was one of the rockingest gram-mammys around.

Pimpissippi, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

I loved working with my 3 cell guys, and I miss the other 3 I didn't get to work with.

Massive friend crushes on all the leaders. Very cool group of folks.

Disney's Tron made another appearance....and only Red Powers got it.

Team 5 pwnd some Katrina Trash.

J.J. snores. And loves the beach.

1 Waterhouse is cool. 2 Waterhouses is almost too much to handle.

Ocean baptisms are very cool. And not just temperature wise.

Andy Hartness and Katie Hartness are two very cool Hartnesses. I'm noticing a trend.

Life is much more enjoyable when I take time to enjoy and try to understand other cultures. This includes junior high girls, because they're as foreign to me as, well, immigrants.

Actions are louder than words.

Billy W. is a great roommate and pal.

Chicken nuggets are the best camp meal available. Other than steaks.

Pope might love Pente more than A&A.

Candlelight dinners, regardless of context, are a great time. So are birthdays. So hope you had a good one, Chelsea.

Caving is fun. Even when it's not in a cave.

18 feet of water hitting a house 5 miles inland and 45 miles above sea level is completely incomprehensible to me. I'm still at a loss for words.

I need to spend more time with my bro.

It's hard to give nicknames. People don't care for "war," "death," "pestilence," "greed," or any other sweet names.

Too many of my possessions = distractions.

Girls like Space Jam.

Night ultimate is wonderful.

Sometimes it's nice to just sit in silence with someone. Bree and Moon are great at just relaxing and chilling.

Talking about romantic relationships with kids and other leaders makes me realize how ridiculous most of mine have been. But I still enjoy them anyway. Someday I'll be less awkward about it all.

Accepting the gift of salvation is a huge decision. And I don't think I realized the severity of it until this week.

Oshka beats the lameness that is Big Booty into a bloody pulp.

Thai bibles are hard to read.

Excessive sun gives sunburns.

And Chase Gibson deserves an award for following directions. No one else kept their vests on.

There's some changes that need to happen if I am gonna become the person I'm supposed to become. I'm not there yet, but it's happening.

The flu is no fun.

edit: If there's one type of flu I'd prefer getting, it's the 13 hour kind. It basically just means you get to sleep for 13 hours and only have to wake up to throw up. I tend to be pretty good at both parts of that mission.

I gotta get better at doing work at reasonable time. Sitting staring at a computer for 7 hours and finishing one page of an essay is ridiculous. Especially when there's four more pages waiting to be finished, and a second and third essay are asking me if I know who my daddy is.

Pimpissippi....comin down to the wire.

Hope you kids are praying for the trip.
